Sometimes, a short break needs somehow justifying.  No problem – we’ve produced a handy code-converter: the translation from wistfulness to office-speak.

A quick dash to Cornwall is always befitting and here’s how…

I just want to be standing on a Cornish cliff, gazing over a deserted beach…

'I’m off walking the Cornish coast path this weekend!'

(Any or all of the 22-mile stretch from Tintagel to Padstow)

I’d like to submerge myself in odd-sounding places…

'I’m away on a discovery break next week: exploring wacky Cornish places!'

(Squeeze Belly Alley in Port Isaac and Brown Willy on Bodmin Moor top our local excursions)

deserted beaches

I wish I was wandering market stalls and relaxing in artisan bistros…

'I’ve just booked a foodie getaway to Cornwall!'

(Seafood, farmer markets and Michelin restaurants aplenty, country pubs and farm shops too: more info here)

I need a stress-busting something…

'My active-adventurer breakaway is nearly here!'

(Coasteering at Port Gaverne, riding across Bodmin Moor, surfing at Polzeath, mountain biking or cycling the Camel Trail)

I’m longing to get lost in nature…

'I’m off wild heritage exploring this weekend!'

(Cornish Heritage Sites, Lanhydrock Estate trails, Cornwall Wildlife Trust sites, King Arthur legendry spots, and sea safaris)

Cornish Heritage

I have to recharge and reset with a change of scenery…

'My country cottage escape is next week!'

(Evenings by the log burner, lazy starts on a patio and afternoons in the garden that turn into bar-b-q suppers, with just the birds and bees for company: more info here)

I want to wander vineyards, visit galleries and meander ancient streets…

'I’m off culture-vulture’ing this weekend!'

(Camel Valley Vineyard and Haywood Farm Cider tours, independent galleries at Boscastle and Port Isaac that also happen to be historical fishing villages; the unique museums of Boscastle, Davidstow and Bodmin)

With a multitude of valid reasons for a Cornish getaway: escape-envy is the only concern; but hey – embrace that inner trendsetter! Spontaneity and Cornwall go hand-in-hand.

Tom's Days Out

We had the most amazing family break staying at Tom's cottage. The lovely furnished rooms made it feel like home. With really spacious rooms and very well equipped. Such a great stay, loved every minute and can't wait to go back.

We had a wonderful 10 days at Tom’s cottage, it was a lovely place to stay and our toddler particularly enjoyed the big garden. Great place to be near lots of great beaches. We would definitely recommend it and would love to come back one day.
